Sunshine State Young Readers Award
Each year the state of Florida selects fifteen books for K-2nd students and fifteen books for 3rd-5th grade. It is sponsored by the Florida Department of Education and Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME). The main purpose is to motivate students to read a variety of books and encourage the love of reading.

We encourage Kindergarten-2nd grade students to read three SSYRA Jr. books and 3rd-5th grade students to read three SSYRA books. Students who read at least three books will be able to participate in a statewide vote on his/her favorite SSYRA Jr. or SSYRA book!
