Mrs. Caring

Hello Dolphin Families!

My name is Jenna Caring and I am so happy to be the Lake Whitney art teacher.  I absolutely love being a part of your students' creative journey and watching them explore the different art mediums we work with.

My education background is in Psychology, and Studio Art with a focus on early childhood development and arts therapy. Before joining the Lake Whitney family, I've worked as a pre-school teacher, Child Development Specialist and a chef and baker. I am an experienced and practicing artist. Metalsmithing, printmaking, ceramics, and mixed media sculptures are my primary pursuits, but I am well versed in a multitude of media, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and love of art, art history and artists with my students.

While my motto is Have Fun/Get Messy, we use mostly water-soluble paints, inks, and pastels. We try our best not to get too messy, but it is not recommended to send your students in their finery. Some masterpieces will be held to decorate our school and displayed at Art Night, while others will find their way home each quarter.

Throughout the year, each grade level can win The Caring Class of the Month prize. This award is given to the classes who show exceptional teamwork, kindness, and positivity. My goal is to not only teach art skills, but to also encourage creative thinking, empathy, and the confidence to try new things.

I would like to invite you and your students to join Artsonia! It will be our interactive digital art gallery and 20% of anything you purchase featuring your students artwork will be donated to the Lake Whitney art fund and will help us acquire necessary supplies and tools to further enrich the art education curriculum here at Lake Whitney Elementary.

Thank you for the opportunity to make art with your amazing children! Let's have a great year.

Have Fun! Get Messy!
